As part of the Cut-Ups exhibit now in the gallery, we’ve got a series of pieces from Tracy Timmins’ piece in the 365 Days of Print project.
She presents intricate colored pencil drawings which reference collaged imagery and illustrate subliminal gestures sourced from advertising media. The image addresses both the sensation and tactile quality of mark making, and functions as an impulsive response to assimilated information.
You can learn more about Tracy, here.
Cut-Ups: An Exploration of Cut Paper is a curated group show running in Land Gallery through September 25th, 2011.
Nikki McClure
Cutting Her Own Path, 1996 - 2011
We’re really excited about this show that’s currently down at the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland. The Museum has curated an amazing retrospective of Nikki’s work.
If you’ve never gotten the chance to see Nikki’s work in person, you’ll be blown away by the depth and texture that a single piece of cut paper can have. And getting to see her original sketches, photos of her workspace and notes tell an incredible backstory and provide amazing context.
The show runs through October 29, 2011, so swing by if you get a chance.
